This course will support new and existing teachers in their role of English Subject Leadership.
Reading, writing and spoken language underpin learning. The English Subject Leader plays a key role in embedding the teaching of English across the curriculum to improve outcomes for all learners. This course will equip English Subject Leaders with skills and strategies to lead with confidence. We will begin by identifying how to evaluate current practice, using a range of strategies, and then consider how to develop an action plan, lead improvement and monitor the impact on learning for all pupils. These are vital steps supporting leaders to articulate their understanding of the 3 'i's (intent, implementation, impact). Delegates will become more familiar with 'what works well' in terms of evidence-based classroom strategies and targeted interventions. The course leader will draw upon extensive experience of supporting English Subject Leaders in Derbyshire schools. By the end of the course, delegates will:
- have developed a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the English Subject Leader
- have identified and prioritised actions to develop the role and the subject back in school.
