This full day intensive workshop is designed to take School Business Officers through the core elements of data protection compliance within schools, focussing on practical application.
The workshop begins by covering the key principles of data protection but quickly moves through information security and data privacy considerations to Information Asset Registers, Data Privacy Impact Assessments, Subject Access Requests and breaches. The course will also share examples of best practice gathered from around Derbyshire on topics such as the annual data collection, school social media, photo consent and even bookbag leaflets and birthday boards.
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Understand the importance of data protection compliance
- Understand the key principles of data protection and how they apply in the school setting
- Understand what and Information Asset Register, Data Protection Impact Assessment and a Subject Access request are and what to do with them
- Work out some of the things they need to do next towards compliance
