Rethinking Vulnerability: Responding with Optimism and Insight

Gain a deeper understanding of factors that impact resilience and explore effective practice to support wellness.

Outline

Vulnerability refers to a person’s risk of being harmed and at times can be hidden from view. As educators we work with children and young people at risk for a range of reasons who require a considered and insightful approach.
How can we maintain and promote a positive, empowering and hopeful outlook when supporting children and young people and ensure that all children and young people have the best possible opportunities and outcomes? The fourth annual EPS Conference “Rethinking Vulnerability” will address this pivotal question.

Description

“Rethinking Vulnerability” will focus on taking action to identify, protect and support vulnerable children and young people and help them achieve and thrive.
Through a series of engaging speakers, workshops and exhibitors, school staff will be inspired to critically assess the meaning of vulnerability, broaden their understanding of the factors that impact children and young people, and develop the skills to support children’s resilience and wellbeing.

Outcomes

By the end of the Conference, delegates will:
  • understand and have insight into the factors that can make children and young people vulnerable
  • have the confidence to identify how vulnerability impacts the wellbeing and academic outcomes of children and young people
  • have a range of tools, resources and strategies to better support children and young people with a sense of optimism about their future.
