With regard to Safer Recruitment training, Derbyshire County Council are recommending refresher training after no longer than 5 years, which needs to be face to face. In the interests of better practice in a school you need to have at least one Designated Safeguarding Lead or Governor renew every three years, whereby they can go back to their school and cascade the information and review practice. There is an online module available through the NSPCC website which has been endorsed by the Derbyshire County Council Safeguarding Validation Panel "Safer Recruitment Training" www.nspcc.org.uk/what-you-can-do/get-expert-training/safer-recruitment-education-course/ (there is a fee for this).
The training workshop is intended to provide a consistent national minimum standard of good practice, indicating measures that organisations will adopt when recruiting and selecting people, including volunteers, to work with children. The trainers have undertaken training for trainers delivered by Lucy Faithfull Foundation (LFF) and have subsequently registered as "accredited" with LFF to deliver Safer Recruitment training using the Safer Recruitment Consortium materials.
By the end of the course, (based on an understanding of offender behaviour) delegates will:
NB: this is not intended to be a comprehensive workshop on staff recruitment and selection.
- identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
- consider policies and practice that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting
- help participants begin to review their policies and practice in recruitment with a view to creating a safer culture.
This course can be booked through the S4S system. Should you have any queries or problems please contact email@example.com or 01629 531933. Our Cancellation Policy can be viewed under 'Terms' via the following webpage: www.services.derbyshire.gov.uk/Services/2706
