Outline

During this course, you will discuss key characteristics of a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, learn how these characteristics affect the child and discover practical strategies for supporting the child's learning.

Description

The course will focus on language and communication, social understanding, imagination, flexibility and the resistance to change. We will explore responding to individual differences by adapting curriculum and routine and will look at how we can create a safe environment to develop play and encourage positive behaviour.

Outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates will:
  • have gained knowledge and understanding of the key characteristics of a child with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • have learned how these characteristics affect how a child may learn
  • have considered practical strategies you can implement to support a child who has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
