This course will support teachers and subject leaders as they examine their school's curriculum planning.
We shall consider where the two disciplines of English and History interrelate and, to a large extent, overlap to support pupils' learning overall.
The 2014 History National Curriculum requires that "Teaching should equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement."
During the session we shall consider how we can develop pupils' skills in Spoken Language and their range of vocabulary knowledge whilst promoting high-quality historical enquiry and understanding
We shall do this through exploring a range of resources actively, including: artefacts, pictures, photographs and written sources
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- have a clearer understanding of how to link English and History so that it has a deep impact upon pupils' learning
- have a wider range of activities which are easily adapted to meet your pupils' requirements across the history curriculum
The cost of this course is £108.00 per delegate (£120.00 per delegate for sites who do not subscribe to the Education Improvement Service).
